Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: February 15, 2026
Last Updated: February 15, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you can and cannot do with the FreeQR platform. It applies to all Account Holders, including Free and Paid Plan users, and covers all content published through QR codes, landing pages, and any other features of the Service.

This policy exists to keep FreeQR safe and useful for everyone. It is part of our Terms of Service. Violating this policy may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.

1. General Principles

FreeQR is designed for legitimate personal and business use. You are responsible for everything you publish through the Service, including text, images, videos, audio, files, forms, links, and embeds on your landing pages.

Three simple rules:

  1. Do not publish anything illegal.
  2. Do not use FreeQR to deceive or harm others.
  3. Respect the rights of other people and organizations.

The sections below provide specific guidance, but these three rules apply even in situations not explicitly listed.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not publish, upload, or distribute content that:

2.1. Illegal Content

  • Violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Promotes or facilitates illegal activity
  • Contains or distributes controlled substances or illegal goods
  • Facilitates gambling in jurisdictions where it is prohibited

2.2. Harmful or Dangerous Content

  • Promotes violence, self-harm, or suicide
  • Contains instructions for creating weapons or explosives
  • Encourages dangerous activities that could result in physical harm
  • Threatens, intimidates, or harasses any person or group

2.3. Exploitative Content

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind. We report all instances to the relevant authorities immediately.
  • Non-consensual intimate images
  • Content that sexually exploits minors in any way
  • Human trafficking or forced labor

2.4. Hateful Content

  • Promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age
  • Glorifies or trivializes violence against any group
  • Uses slurs, dehumanizing language, or symbols associated with hate groups

2.5. Deceptive Content

  • False or misleading claims about products, services, or organizations
  • Fake reviews, testimonials, or endorsements
  • Impersonation of another person, business, or government entity
  • Content designed to deceive End Users into providing personal information (phishing)
  • Misleading health, financial, or legal claims

2.6. Infringing Content

  • Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights
  • Unauthorized use of another person's name, likeness, or brand
  • Pirated software, media, or other copyrighted material

See our DMCA process in the Terms of Service for how we handle copyright complaints.

3. Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Service to:

3.1. Spam and Unsolicited Communications

  • Send bulk unsolicited messages or communications through landing page forms
  • Create QR codes or landing pages for the sole purpose of distributing spam
  • Harvest email addresses or other contact information from End Users without their consent

3.2. Malware and Security Threats

  • Distribute malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or any malicious software
  • Host files that contain or deliver malicious code
  • Link to or redirect users to malicious websites
  • Attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in the FreeQR platform or its infrastructure

3.3. Phishing and Fraud

  • Create landing pages that imitate login pages, payment forms, or official communications of other services
  • Use QR codes to redirect End Users to fraudulent websites
  • Collect payment card details, bank account numbers, or financial credentials through FreeQR forms
  • Run deceptive schemes (pyramid schemes, advance-fee fraud, fake charities)

3.4. Deceptive QR Code Practices

  • Change the destination of a dynamic QR code to harmful or misleading content after distributing it (bait-and-switch)
  • Place QR codes over or adjacent to other QR codes to intercept scans
  • Create QR codes that misrepresent where they lead (for example, a QR code labeled "restaurant menu" that leads to unrelated commercial content)
  • Use QR codes to bypass age verification, content warnings, or other access controls

3.5. Platform Abuse

  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or avoid enforcement actions
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without written permission
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Overload the Service with excessive requests or deliberately trigger rate limits
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service without written permission

3.6. Data Collection Misuse

  • Collect personal data from End Users through landing page forms without a lawful basis
  • Collect data from End Users without providing a privacy notice
  • Collect sensitive personal data (health information, biometric data, government IDs) through FreeQR forms without appropriate legal safeguards
  • Use data collected through FreeQR in ways that violate applicable data protection laws

4. Landing Page Content Standards

Because landing pages are publicly accessible to anyone with the URL or QR code, additional standards apply:

4.1. Transparency

  • Landing pages should clearly identify who published them (your name or business name).
  • If your landing page collects data through forms, you must link to your own privacy notice or explain how the data will be used.
  • Commercial content must be identifiable as such. Do not disguise advertisements as editorial content.

4.2. Age-Restricted Content

  • Content that is legal but age-restricted (such as alcohol or tobacco promotion) must comply with the advertising laws of the jurisdiction where your QR codes are distributed.
  • Do not target age-restricted content at minors.
  • FreeQR does not provide age-gating features. If your content requires age verification, you are responsible for implementing appropriate measures.

4.3. Embedded Content

  • You are responsible for all content you embed on your landing pages, including third-party videos, social media feeds, and iframes.
  • Embedded content must comply with this AUP and with the terms of the third-party service you are embedding.
  • Do not embed content that auto-plays audio at high volume, triggers automatic downloads, or redirects End Users without their action.

5. Free Plan Specific Rules

If you are using the Free Plan:

  • You may not attempt to hide, block, or interfere with advertisements displayed on your landing pages.
  • You may not use custom code or embeds to cover or obscure FreeQR branding.
  • Ads displayed on Free Plan landing pages are selected by our advertising partners. We are not responsible for the content of individual ads, but we do require advertising partners to comply with applicable advertising standards.
